I am a bit more comfortable with the term than I was maybe a couple of years ago. I emphasize the musician part, but I am a YouTuber and that's what I am. But yeah, I have often said YouTuber, but a musician. Like when people call me a YouTuber, it sounds funny to me. Mary Spender: When you introduce yourself to new people, how do you describe what you do for a living? In the podcast, they talk about the pressures of making a fully produced track and video every single week, what his studio setup is like and how taking his show on the road is changing his music. With over three million subscribers, he’s racked up more than 700 million views by doing his own brand of metal covers. It does not store any personal data. For the latest episode of Signal Path, Mary Spender spoke with Leo Moracchioli, the Norwegian multi-instrumentalist and producer behind the popular Frog Leap Studios YouTube channel. Start to finish I was banging my head and singing along to my guilty pleasures without a care… and that is why we love Frog Leap Studios.įrog Leap Studios: official | facebook | twitter | instagram | youtube Killing in the Name (Rage Against The Machine). Now let’s take a moment to appreciate the set list: I think I can speak for all of Moshville Times when I say that I hope Frog Leap make a return to Glasgow very soon. Leo’s smile is a permanent feature – the Joker would be jealous – and his band mates looked similarly overjoyed to be with us. This was a fun night, and they looked like they enjoyed it as much as we did. While the bulk of the recorded music is done by the multi-talented Leo, a live show can’t be put on with similarly gifted colleagues and they stepped up to the challenge in terms of both belting the tunes of of their instruments and having the perfect attitude. They deserve full credit for making the show what it was, though. Musicianship was spot on, though I confess I can’t name the band members. Personally I’m so proud of Leo managing to pull this off, having been a fan for years it’s amazing to watch that kind of progress selling out a venue like Classic Grand! Everything from the audience hyping to the music, it was a party and everyone was invited. There was never a dull moment (besides the lighting, at least as far as my phone’s camera was concerned – otherwise the lighting was rocking) from the second the Frog Leap guys took to the stage. Especially for one fan (not me!) who made it on stage during “Heathens”. Full of non-stop high energy and constantly out-doing himself, Leo sure left his mark in Glasgow and it will not soon be forgotten. While the “band” have played live before, tonight’s show was their first ever live headline show on UK soil (take that, London) and the Classic Grand was rammed.įirst off I was a bit nervous going into this gig because I was unsure how well it would translate from YouTube to the stage, but man I was blown away. We’ve featured several of Leo’s cover tracks, for which he’s famed, over the years and with almost 3 million YouTube subscribers, he must be doing something right. For those who don’t know who Leo and Frog Leap are, then you’re missing out on a treat.
